Use the editor to adjust the minitaur's parameters. Neither editor (FX or VI) generates sounds. There is no midi only VST so you can drag it directly onto instrument track- unfortunately this is a limitation of the VST framework (any VST has at least one audio output). This is useful if your intention is only to automate Minitaurs parameters. VST (Virtual Studio Technology) is a software plug-in format developed by Steinberg. These plug-ins generally come in one of three types: instruments, audio processors, or midi processors. They are among the most ubiquitous plug-in formats, and are what most people refer to when the term “software plug-in” is discussed. The new Minitaur v2.2 update expands this powerful analog bass synthesizer with a host of new performance elements and user requested features, including front-panel access to new LFO wave-shapes, oscillator hard-sync and much more-and Minitaur's new Librarian/Editor Software makes DAW integration seamless between your synthesizer and Mac or Windows machine.

  1. We're currently conducting systematic tests with the release version of macOS 11 (Big Sur) in order to offer full compatibility of our products as soon as possible. You can find our latest compatibility status - here

Please note that although announced at the same time as macOS Big Sur, Apple Silicon processors are an independent release with separate compatibility concerns for NI products. Compatibility with macOS Big Sur will not yet ensure compatibility with Apple Silicon processors. At the moment, Native Instruments products are not supported on computers with Apple Silicon processors. Read more - here

Re: Minitaur Editor as VST Post by Stoner » Thu Feb 14, 2013 8:29 pm Well, after a lot of effort, my new VST editor panel is now usable and really ready for test. Reader aymat alerted us to the Boog Minotaur, a free analog modeling bass synth VST for Windows. It looks vaguely familiar – almost like somebody was trying to clone the Moog Minitaur in SynthEdit. Like the real thing, it can make notes that are low. And as aymat told us, “If you can’t afford a real one, this thing’s not half bad.”. “A VST (plus AudioUnit on OSX) plugin host designed for live use. “Webitaur is a online browser Java’s based emulation of the moog minitaur Any midi. Essentially Live will only talk to the Minitaur on channel one with the configuration described above (setting Ableton to see the MIDI coming in from maschine on a channel and then outputting the MIDI back to mashcine for it to send to the Minitaur) The VST plug in was the key to making it work however.
